Advertising and the Human Body

There is no limit to the budget that the companies all over the world have for their publicity campaigns. There is no limit also to the number of ways employed by advertising companies that are involved in producing smart and slick advertising campaigns. Millions of dollars are spent every year by companies on promotional campaigns for their products and services. More and more ingenious and innovative ways are researched and arrived at to get the competitive edge in advertising promos. There are virtually no boundaries to the way products are sold and methods employed to increase sales. The human body has also entered the fray as a virtual hoarding board for advertising companies.

Very recently, the American press reported a very funny but interesting news item. The news item reported that a man from Maine was auctioning the back of his neck for advertising purposes. The man Mark Greenlaw was offering the back of his neck for tattooing permanently advertising slogans, pictures or anything that will sell or promote products or services of any company that is ready to pay him. This man is no newcomer to this weird business and even owns a website called weirdbay.com that auctions products much on the lines of eBay.

This 25 year old weirdo, when quipped about his new venture replied that he was doing this for his family’s sake and there was nothing wrong in offering some parts of his skin for advertising purposes. This guy sure wants to be a pain in the neck or rather wouldn’t mind having a little pain in the neck. Anyway, the bottom line is there haven’t been too many bidders for this guy’s neck and the highest bid so far is only a mere 99 cents. But what should worry every one of us, given the huge popularity of p0rn films all over the world, will the giants like Microsoft and Coca cola bid for space on the genitals of p0rn stars? Only time will answer that question!
