The car market has always been on a raise. Every year thousands of new car models are launched in the market. People have so many options to choose from. They are available in all color, size and range. When looking to buy a car, people often look into details such as the color, price and bodywork. But with the high rise of fuel prices in the recent years, people have started looking for fuel-efficient cars. Whether it’s a new car or an old one, people desire it to be fuel-efficient. Nobody wants to spend on a car, which is nothing but a gas-guzzler. The fuel efficiency for a car varies for different cars and even for cars of different models produced by the same company.

A person buying a car would be given EPA ratings for the car for both the highway and the city. But these ratings are attainable only on special conditions and it may sometimes not be possible to obtain them. There are various websites and forums from where people would be able to get information on the efficiency of different cars. Another good way to know about the fuel efficiency of the car, which you are interested in buying, is by asking people who have used the same car.

Some of the best fuel-efficient cars available are:

Honda Civic Hybrid – The Honda Civic Hybrid has electric motor that increases the efficiency of its 1.3 liters small engine. It is one of the most efficient cars when it comes to fuel consumption. It has the overall fuel efficiency rating of about 42 mpg.

Toyota Prius – Prius had always been the most fuel-efficient cars from the EPA. The fuel rating is the lowest at 46 mpg. It has an annual estimated fuel cost of around $1019.
