An important thing to note is that not everyone that appears to be confident, especially over confidant, has a good level of self-esteem. Some persons are good at masking or faking confidence and even self-esteem as a way to intimidate or fool others. Other times, it is simply an unconscious reaction to the situation, just as a person instinctively tries to block an attack or shy away from an embarrassing situation.
