I wish I could say my greatest adventure in South Africa lately has involved leaping off Victoria Falls or skimming desert dunes in Namibia. I’d feel far less of a loser if my jaw dropping tale involved a gang of thugs or an encounter with a speeding drunk in a car packed with children and sheep. The last one actually happened, by the way, but not to me. An intoxicated South African man, 32 times over the legal limit, was caught driving a Mercedes in the Eastern Cape packed with a woman, five kids and 15 stolen sheep.
