Global warming is the phenomenon, by which the temperature of the earth surface, atmosphere surrounding the earth is increasing gradually. In these days, the global warming is becoming a serious matter of concern. So lets have a little discussion on this phenomenon of global warming.
Overview – It is seemed that the temperature of the earth surface had been increased by half degree Celsius to one degree Celsius during the period of last 100 years. As a result of which the ecosystem and natural balance is getting upset. According to the environmentalists and scientists the increment of greenhouse gases is the biggest reason of having the global warming. The scientists are foreseeing that the global warming is going to be a big crisis for the world if proper measures are not taken early. IPCC is continuously working on the global warming phenomenon. Kyoto Protocol is in the act, according to which each and every country is responsible for preventing the greenhouse effect and the global warming.
Causes:
1) Presence of Greenhouse Gases: By absorption and radiation of the heat the greenhouse gases make the atmosphere warm. Some amount of greenhouse gas is needed to be in the atmosphere to keep the earth suitable for living. But the main problem is that the amount of greenhouse gas is increasing day by day due to the human activities. This increment of greenhouse gases making the atmosphere warmer and hence results the global warming. For your information, CO2, NO2, CH4 and water vapor are the premier greenhouse gases.
2) Feedbacks: This is a cyclic cause of the global warming. For an example, ice is melting due to the global warming. Since the amount of ice lacks, the heat reflection power of the also decreases. Hence global warming is having more effect.
3) Others: Some other reasons like the volcanic eruption or the solar heating is also responsible for this global warming phenomenon.
Effects:
1) The world may face the problem of the extreme weather, if the current rate of global warming continues. The increased rate of tropical thunderstorm is the effect of extreme weather and global warming as well.
2) Due to the global warming, the rate of water evaporation will rise and hence the world will experience the problem of continuous heavy rain. Due to the continuous heavy rain, the soil erosion will take place and hence it will cause the desertification. Look on to the desert areas of Africa, which is suffering as the effect of global warming.
3) The temperature of many places seemed to hike up to 3 degrees. So it is easily, understandable that how badly the climate of those places is destabilized!
4) The glaciers are suddenly disappearing due to the global warming effect.
5) The sea level is rising gradually due to the effect of global warming. Due to the rising sea level, many of the islands got disappeared from the map of the world.
Now from the causes and effects stated earlier it is evident that we could control the global warming phenomenon since it is caused by us very much. So it is our duty to be aware and take the precautionary measures so that we could stop the global warming effects.
