Dogs are very playful creatures. They love playing outdoors and generally have a ball doing all sorts of mischievous things. Come to think of it, we all love our dogs for their playfulness. But there is a downside to this too. The dogs can get dirty pretty quickly. All the dirt and muck that get stuck on the dog coat needs some thorough washing to get them away. Though it is the opinion of dog experts and veterinarians alike that it is not necessary to give a bath to a dog that frequently, washing it once in a while is absolutely necessary. Adding to the problem is the body odor of the dogs . The furrier they are the more they stink. In humid summers the problem is further aggravated. Keeping all this in mind, bathing a dog is very essential. Let us now see how to bath dog and keep them spotlessly clean.
First decide on the place where you want to bathe your dog. While kitchen sinks or bathtubs might do for smaller dogs, bigger dogs need bigger spaces. The best place would be somewhere outside where you have a running water connection available. Keep the necessary things like soap, shampoo, towels and comb ready. Check the temperature of the water and see to that it is neither too hot nor cold. Use a dog muzzle if your dog is on the aggressive side. Wet the whole body of the dog using a water hose or mug. Shampoo or soap the whole body and work up lather. You can also use a plastic scrub for stubborn dirt. After shampooing away all the dirt, give the dog 2 or 3 rinses with plain water till all the residual soap or shampoo is washed away. Do not direct water at the dogs face as this might cause problems in its breathing. The face can be cleaned separately using a wet towel.
Thoroughly wipe away water from the hair and skin of the dog by using the towels. Use the towels twice so that all water is thoroughly wiped lest the dog catches a cold. After this you can spray the dogs body with powder or any special powder like anti fungal or anti tick powder. You can also use special oils that help give the fur on the dog a special shine and a glossy feel. Now the dog is ready to receive any guests that you might have.
