Ever wondered how you make a hovercraft? Fun and interesting, you can work with serious tools and have fun too. A hovercraft is an amphibious vehicle that travels above any smooth surface, land or water. It is supported by a cushion of slowly moving and high-pressure air.

Let us look at the materials you will need to build your own hovercraft:

Two shaft engines for vertical and horizontal placement, foam, pieces of plywood, screws, Handyman’s kit, Cloth for the skirt, Nylon string, Bolts, Drill, Sewing machine, Metal sheets, Small air condition fan, saw, bicycle brakes, pulley, fan duct, air deflector, pipe, Brackets

Lets start with the base. Take two plywood pieces and put foam in between. Drill screws on all four sides to fix them and sew the cloth pieces for the upper and lower portion of the hovercraft with a nylon string. Fix all the sides and the top in the similar way. Add a big rectangular piece of plywood on the top and drill it to the base.

Now take the engine and attach a fan to the bottom of the engine with bolts. The engine will be fixed to the base. Fix the fan and the pulley at one side and the other end to the engine.

Cut two small wooden circles and place a pipe in between the fix it so that they can move easily. Use brackets to fix them as needed.

Now fix the engine and air deflectors between the pipes. Take rope and attach it to both sides of the pipe with hooks. Lead it to the engine connecting it to the deflectors along the way. Put this on the base of the fan duct. The hovercraft will move depending on the direction the pipe takes.
