Spaghetti is the pride of the Italians and the king of all pasta dishes. There are numerous spaghetti dishes and many ways to cook spaghetti. Always use a large pot or pan to cook spaghetti. Water should be used in plenty when cooking spaghetti so that the dish doesn’t get stuck to the pot or pan while cooking. The excess water can be strained away once the spaghetti is cooked. A little salt and olive oil can be added while cooking to enhance the flavor of the spaghetti. The water should be heated to a boiling point, as the pasta needs to be boiled at high temperatures to make it soft and supple. Spaghetti should not be broken while cooking, as the strands will not get wrapped around your fork while eating.
While boiling spaghetti in water, ensure that all the strands are kept completely immersed in water. The strands that stick out of the water will not be cooked and will spoil the whole taste of the spaghetti dish. Keep stirring and pressing the spaghetti pasta to ensure uniform cooking and also to ensure that the spaghetti doesn’t form clumps or mounds. Look for discoloration in the cooked pasta to see if it is well done. Thoroughly cooked pasta will have a uniform color and an uncooked one will have white dots on it. Strain the cooked spaghetti and don’t try to rinse it as any rinsing might break the strands or turn it into clumps.
