How to potty train babies. This is the question many expectant mothers and fathers ask themselves before their arrival of their darlings. There is actually no need to worry or let it be the reason for any undue anxiety, as nature herself has devised numerous ways to deal with this problem. All the babies need is a little bit of gentle prodding from the parents to learn good toilet habits at a very young age. Potty training can start very early, as early as when the babies are 5 months old, but the best age would be between two to two and half years to potty train your babies. Whether potty training infants or toddlers, the basic rules are the same. Never be harsh or get irritated. Always coax them and gently persuade them to be potty trained. Always remember, what looks like a simple routine procedure to you might look like a complex difficult procedure ton your babies.

When it comes to infants, start early potty training when they are around 5-6 months old. Here the mother of the baby should have an understanding of the baby’s toilet time and their body language. The first thing to do is to take out fear from the baby. Gentle persuasion like making ‘ssss….’ sounds when coaxing the baby to pass urine will help the baby lose his or her fears and inhibitions. Initially, the baby might still dirty the diapers but this is no reason to give up and the baby will settle down to follow a regular routine after the early hiccups. Never pressurize the babies and always cajole them into learning potty habits.

When the babies become toddlers like say when they are two years of age, it is easier to potty train them, as by now they are more adept at understanding instructions and following them. Establish communication with the baby by using special signs that could mean he or she should use the toilet. This could be done by first determining the specific times at which the babies go to the toilet and remind the babies that it is their potty time by the use of signs or sounds. Make the baby wear comfortable clothing, so that they are not troubled by having to change in and out of ill fitting clothes every time they need to use the toilet. Always encourage them by rewarding them with goodies and praise them whenever they use the potty. Having a good toy like potty will also encourage the baby to go to the potty whenever they have the urge to go to the toilet. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that accidents are bound to happen and never lose your patience or temper.
