It is advisable to begin repairing the boat with its most important systems. Electrical and guidance systems need to be fixed next. You should replace the whole electrical system if it’s damaged or unreliable. Remember to change faulty running lights and other safety devices like radar systems, radios and GPS systems.

While repairing the boat, you need to clean it entirely and check safety equipment like flares, charts, anchors, ropes and rigging, life jackets and first aid kits. It’s wise to repair or replace anything that is damaged or not up to the mark. It is prudent not to throw away the useful items, especially if they seem to be bits and pieces of the boat. Even if such items are damaged, they can be used as models for recreating the absent parts when replacements are not accessible. Remember to substitute rotted boards and spoiled ribs, seal any leaks, clean corroded fittings and replace them if required. After the hull has been made waterproof, you can sand and repaint it. So, repair your boat using the steps listed above and give it an all-new look.
