The hardware part of any laptop plays an important role in the durability and quality of performance of the device. Apple has paid extra attention while manufacturing and assembling the Macintosh hardware so that this product becomes extremely popular and outperform all its contenders who claim to be the best of all. In fact the time and research they have put in while working on this hardware is worth it as the Mackintosh has proved to be a powerful and durable device since the time it has hit the market.

ROM as a part of mackintosh hardware:

The most important part of the mackintosh hardware is probably the ROM, which is generally powered at 4MB. But there is extra ROM space required for certain purposes. But then again the due space for the RAM gets reduced because of this. The ROM of the Macintosh has an initial time for access of 120 ns. TAM is build up on a powerful SIMM card. This is the reason it is not impossible to upgrade the ROM and this can be done simply replacing the card.

RAM of mackintosh hardware:

The Macintosh hardware is mounted on the SIMM card which is a 72 pin standard one and this comes with an access time of 80ns. The RAM is inserted in a pair that matches the internal system and each one takes the space of a particular bank inside. The width of the SIMMS on which the RAM is build up is 32 bits. This is probably the reason why the maximum size of a Macintosh Ram can be up to 32 MB.

Cache of Macintosh hardware:

The microprocessor of the Macintosh contains an onboard cache of 32 KB. The general size of the available cache can be 128 KB to 256 KB. They are pre installed within the laptop. The design of the cache is not at all dependent ion the size of it. The cache boots the performance of the Macintosh as a whole on an average of 40% to 20%. The software behind this cache plays an important role in the performance of this cache.

Video support in Macintosh hardware:

The Macintosh is available with different sizes of monitors like the 14″, 13″ and 12″ ones. The video support is different according to the size of the monitor. The 13″ ones have a video depth of 8 bits wherein the 13″ one comes with 16 bits. If you are thinking of redefining the video experience with the help of some other device and want to get it connected to the other one then you will need an adapter cable.

There are many other important bits of hardware that makes the Macintosh one of the bestsellers of the market.
