What will you do if you are frustrated with your Power G3 Pismo’s speed. Simple you will go for over locking it to higher speed. It is a common practice among Power G3 owners to raise the default speed of their PCs upto several notches if they are not satisfied with its working speed.
No doubt overclocking a PowerG3 increases its performance to a large extent. It is a common practice nowadays among PC owners. Power G3 Pismo owners usually focus on the RAM, video cards and motherboard chipsets. The process generally involves manipulating the CPU multiplier of the PC with the Motherboard’s front side bus speed. The process continues until the desired stable speed is achieved by the Pismo.
The first thing that should be taken care of while overclocking is sufficient amount of power supply is attached with the PowerG3 Pismo. However, it should be kept in mind that the machine is sensitive to excessive current supply. Feeding it with too much voltage can lead to permanent damage.
Also, the components of the Pismo, which are overclocked, are bound to produce tremendous heat, which can be harmful to the machine. Thus; one would be wise to ascertain in the first place whether there are adequate cooling facilities. Otherwise the hardware of the Pismo is likely to suffer badly.
There are several plus points of overclocking a Pismo. Performances of games and system becomes much faster. Also the performances of applications like video editing can improve by leaps and bounds. Moreover all these can be achieved without any additional expenses.
On the flip side there are certain disadvantages that may surface due to overclocking a PowerG3 Pismo. While the working speed of the machine will get enhanced, problems regarding its stability may arise. To make matter worse, these problems may remain undetected even the checking that follows overclocking. It can get very irritating for the user to tackle an instable Pismo ever if its speed has been raised.
A typical problem known as silent data error may also paralyze the Pismo. This problem too, may remain unnoticed even after detailed scrutiny. Also overclocking a PowerG3 can result in excessive voltage consumption. Chances are also there that the life span of a Pismo get reduced considerably due to the process of overclocking. Thus there are several factors that should be taken care of before overclocking a PowerG3 Pismo.
But, in spite of its side effects, overclocking a Pismo has proved to be effective in most cases. It has its share of positive and negative points, but with just a bit of caution it an end up delivering the desired result.
