Welcome to Spain, a country of rich monumental heritage, great cuisine and lot of sun. This place has something for everyone, not to forget the shopping enthusiastic. Let’s look at the places in Spain to visit.
Madrid, the capital city of Spain is certainly worth a visit. The city is cosmopolitan and at the same time has a rich cultural and artistic heritage. The historic old town, also known as ‘Madrid de las Austrias’ (referring to the Hapsburg empire) is a living example of the city’s 16th and 17th century heyday. It is a popular spot for tourists in Spain.
Madris also has a happening nightlife. Along with the modern pubs, bars, discos and flamenco clubs there are traditional verbenas (open-air dances) too. The San Isidro bullfighting festival being the most important one.
Barcelona, famous for the Olympic games, can be very well called an open museum with its collection of gothic buildings. Some of the important sightseeing places are Casa dels Canonges, La Pia Almoina, Casa d´Ardiaca, the Palau Reial Mayor, the Chapel of Santa Ágata, and the City History Museum. Must mention is the church of La Mercè, patron saint of Barcelona
You can also go on a shopping spree in the municipal markets, art galleries and antique shops in Barcelona alongside crafts shops and open-air markets. A shopping trip in the streets of Barcelona can be an experience in itself.
Valencia is another place of importance and is very well known for its Fallas, which is a big tourist attraction. During this festival, the city lights up with street celebrations and parades.
You can find more than 60 different beaches in northern Spain in a place called Cantabria. The beaches are awesome with fine, white sand and great landscapes.
The country also offers green meadows, woods and villages together with the beach flavour. You will also find the Altamira Cave, which has the world’s most important prehistoric paintings.
