Belgium is a destination with history, museum and food. Many visit Belgium while visiting Germany or France but Belgium has a charm of its own and you can have a wonderful experience here. Here are the places to visit in Belgium.
Visit the diamond center, Antwerp; the most important diamond trade centre in the world. It is also a fashion hub with many boutiques and shopping outlets. Also it has a pulsating nightlife with trendy bars and hip nightclubs.
That’s not all, Antwerp has its own share of history. Some of the historical sightseeing places are Grote Markt, containing the Town Hall and the Brabo Fountain and the Rubens statue. You can also visit the Rubens’ House, where the painter lived and worked.
Brugge or ‘Venice of the North’ is a pretty town, which you can explore from the luxury of the canal boat ride. With cars are completely off the road in this town, you can experience the good old days of horse-drawn carriages along cobblestone streets. Other attractions here are the Lake of Love, the 14th-century Town Hall, the Cathedral of the Holy Saviour, a fine example of 13th-century Gothic architecture, the Memling Museum, dedicated to the painter Hans Memling and the lively Grote Market.
Another place for history and architecture is Brussels. Some of the sightseeing highlights are St Michael and St Gudule’s Cathedral, the Mont des Arts Park, the Museum of Ancient Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
Other places to visit here are the Îlot Sacré, the picturesque area of narrow streets to the northeast of the Grand Place; the fashionable boulevard de Waterloo; the gothic Church of Our Lady of Sablon and the Sunday antique market and the Petit Sablon, a square surrounded by Gothic columns. Take a day trip to visit the Battle of Waterloo site, which is 18km from the main town.
