A person’s self esteem informs others what the person thinks of himself and what he really is. Self esteem is essentially connected to the person’s self worth and his self image. Self esteem also determines a person’s self control. The more the person has self esteem, the more confident he would be and hence would be able to keep control over his life. Whereas a person with less self esteem will not be very self confident and would let others have control on his life.

Often people who have low self esteem set some inflexible, rigid and impossible standards for themselves. Such standards may be some performance related or/and they might be related to weight or appearance issues. Other people who have low self esteem are those who try to avoid their problems. They just don’t have the confidence to face a challenge. It is the challenges in life that makes a person more confident in life and thereby increases the self esteem.

People suffering from low self esteem find to difficult to sleep and deal with problems. They have just not confident about themselves and hence find it very difficult to enjoy their life to the fullest.

Self esteem questionnaire consists of a set of questions based on which a person can test the level of his self esteem. The level can be high self esteem, low self esteem and average self esteem. Each question in the set consists of four choices: strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. Each question carries marks depending on the choice selected. After answering all the questions, the total score based on the answers given for the questions is calculated. The total score at the end determines the level of self confidence of a person.

The self esteem questionnaire is developed keeping in mind the intuitive meaning of the concept and represents the psychometric requirements. Self esteem is a composite concept and exploring its components has more predictive r analytic value than the global scores. The validity data and preliminary reliability are very encouraging.

Through these self esteem questionnaires, people can look at themselves in a more realistic manner. They can analyze themselves regularly to see how they are feeling. These self esteem questionnaires helps them to except life as it comes to them and they begin to appreciate their life and their strengths and hence become more confident human being with a high self esteem.
