The United States – Pakistan Love Game

There have been many fine love stories in the past involving imaginary people in great love epics written by many literary geniuses. There have been also instances of real stories involving real people that have even eclipsed the love of the famous couple, Romeo and Juliet, in intensity as well as passion. But nothing comes even close to the love stories involving governments of nations. The love games that the political bosses of countries play to the gallery of world citizens is far superior in size, grandeur and drama. One such love game is the one involving the governments of Pakistan and the United States.
First, the United States whose government or whose governments have always played the role of self proclaimed hero in the world stage and supported Islamic fanaticism in Afghanistan to drive out the communist soviets has found a permanent paramour in Pakistan to maintain obvious territorial superiority and logistical advantage in its new mission of wiping out any forms of terrorism. The recent news item involving the secretary of state of the United States renewing its pledge to help Pakistan with financial assistance is a case in point. Even though the offer of support is based on the fool hardy condition that Pakistan should wipe out terrorism emanating from its soil and should stop all support to terrorists or terrorists groups operating within the country.
All the talk of the United States getting tough on the regime in Pakistan post Mumbai terrorist attacks seems to have been stage managed for the world. The love games still continue between the governments of both of these countries with one aspect of their relationship made available to the public while the real truth hidden behind closed rooms when the leaders of the countries meet. The fact that Pakistan is rather a very flirtatious partner has been made very obvious by the fact that the government of Pakistan has recently offered a peace treaty to the Taliban in the troubled SWAT region in the western borders of the country. So it looks like the love games will continue for a long time to come till such time the American government starts showing real love and commitment to it’s own people and to the majority of the world it hopes to lead one day rather than wasting it’s affections on Pakistan, a country which, has never and ever will show any trust, integrity and loyalty in any of the things associated with the greater good of humanity. The fact that Pakistan cannot be trusted or loved as a country will only dawn on the United States when it is rather too late for an amicable divorce from this unholy matrimony involving the two countries, one entrusted with great power, so great a power that it has blinded it’s own eyes and the other infected by fanaticism, back stabbing, cowardice and deceit.
